100% (Re)Fresh(ing)

I know my website is reserved for music and conventions but, I want to do something different. See recently I saw the Adam Sandler Stand Up Comedy Special “100% Fresh” and, I want to talk about it. See despite all the hate we’ve have been giving Adam for his recent films. Be it in theater or on Netflix. This special was…..Great!

I had REAL authentic laughter. None of this recent stuff where all people do is just complain about politics and thinking their hot shit just because they said something mean about a them. Not that political satire can’t be funny but my biggest problem is most of it isn’t joke telling. It’s just pandering. Plus it doesn’t age well. I remember listening to Robin Williams Live at the Met and this was right after I saw his live on Broadway special. So i’m thinking this is going to be great. a Vast majority of it was about politics at the time…This came out in 1986…I was one and not everyone knows history. So i’m sitting there in complete silence waiting for something funny. That’s when I realized that this type of material just doesn’t age well.

But Adam’s latest special. It wasn’t just Fresh. It was Refreshing. Adam wasn’t ripping on politics, current events, or celebrity gossip. He was telling jokes that he wrote. I was listening to actual comedy again. His schtick was similar to what he did back on SNL. Doing silly songs, in goofy voices with some regular stand up bits that feels PG-13ish but, he makes it work. Like here’s a single from that special. This is called Phone, Wallet, Keyes.

It makes me laugh. Maybe it’s because it’s so absurdity of it all but, again…I had Real Authentic Laughter. Yes, the music does feel reminiscent of the Lonely Island but humor is 100% Adam. Here’s another song he did about Uber Drivers.

And then he tops it all off with a couple of songs at the end. One about his dear late friend Chris Farley and the other about his wife. Both were just so beautiful. It serves as a good reminder that despite all the crap we have given him. It shows he’s still human. The only downside of the special is there are times when he looks like he’s really into it and others when he just looks worn out or just not feeling it. But that’s about it. Adam called his Special 100% Fresh because it was all fresh, brand new material. But to me this was 100% Refreshing because it was so Refreshing to see comedy again. I hope I will have a chance to meet Mr. Sandler and have him sign my What the Hell Happened to me vinyl and maybe interview him. This special gets 41/2 stars out of 5.

BronyCon Art Show Entries & Charity Auction

As the weeks leading to BronyCon 2019 pass the work continues at headquarters preparing materials for the final mission. Some items, highly crafted and unique, are still needed and that’s why we’re excited to announce the opening of applications for this year’s Art Show! Those that aren’t as artistically inclined will be happy to know the charity auction submission form has also been opened.

BronyCon’s Art Show is an opportunity for creators of all types to showcase and sell their art without the pressure and commitment of exhibitor space. Any person, including those already selling items inside the vendor hall or artist alley, may submit an original piece of work to the show. Accepted items include 2D art (ie posters, prints, etc), 3D art (ie sculptures, plushies, etc), and more. The Art Show is an ideal setting for those who are seeking a chance to get their creations in front of potential fans.

This year, BronyCon will donate a portion of sales from the Art Show to CureSearch for Children’s Cancer Research. Artists who submit items can choose the amount of the final sale price they would like to donate.

Those interested in more information or having their work featured in the show can visit The form will be open until Monday, July 1st.

Tony Fleecs Confirmed for Final BronyCon

Greetings Nation,

BronyCon has announced their first Comic guest. I have had the pleasure of meeting this man multiple times. He is a VERY talented artist and I even got to interview him twice. Ladies and Gentlemen I am happy to give you Tony Fleecs.

This the interview I did with him as well as Sara Richards and Jay Fosgitt. They all gave some good inside details about the comic series and their influences.

And here’s one I did with him 2 years ago at my very first EverFree NorthWest. This one meant a lot to me because I just asked if I could interview and he was more than willing.

The comic staff (as well as the behind the scenes people) really don’t get enough credit and for all of you who are sad that Friendship is Magic is ending. Do yourself a favor and read the comics and chaptered book series. There’s a lot you’re missing out on.

This will be agent Fleecs’ sixth straight BronyCon with his first appearance happening back in 2014—our second year in Baltimore. He is best known as one of the artists on multiple series’ of the IDW “My Little Pony” comic book banner. They includes multiple issues of “Friendship is Magic,” “Friends Forever”, “Legends of Magic,” and the “My Little Pony” annual editions in 2013 and 2017. Fleecs will also lend his talent to our team one last time as he will be illustrating the convention’s book cover, something he’s done every year he has attended.

Outside of “MLP” Mr. Fleecs runs his his own self-named company; Fleecs Design.  His client list includes 20th Century Fox, Disney, the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball, Discovery Channel’s “Monster Garage,” and more.

I met a Japanese Pop Star

So let tell you something that happened recently. I went to an Anime con called Omni Fandom Expo in Orlando FL. They had a bunch of Anime guests there but, they also had a Japanese Pop Star named SAWA. Being a music guy my friend and colleague Evan Bernardi at convinced me to go over and meet. And I gotta say…I am so glad I did.

We talked a lot about music and told her that a friend of mine Misha Feldmann has toured Japan numerous times through out his musical career. Be it his former band SummerCamp. His current band The PenFifteen Club. Or with his friend Tim Cullen. She wasn’t familiar with those bands but what really blew her mind was that he played the Mount Fuji Rock Festival (Think of it as there version of the UK Download Festival). I told her my friend got to play the same stage as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters and so many other great bands. Her jaw hit the floor. I told her there was one Japanese band I have seen live and that was DIR EN GREY.

Her face lit up when I told her that. I saw them at Family Values 2006 with KoRn, Deftones, Flyleaf, and 10 Years. We talked about seeing them live and this one thing the singer does that neither of us get. He sticks his fingers in his mouth, slit his gums and smears the blood over his face….Yeah I dont get it. Normally when people do shock rock performance pieces. They do something that conveys the message in the song. I would say maybe there’s something lost in translation but, as I said. She doesn’t get it either. I also told her that there is at least one Japanese band that’s on my bucket list and that’s LOUDNESS.

She’s apparently a big fan and told me they are worth seeing. Their music is amazing. They’ve been around since the 80s and they’re still rocking it. I can’t do them justice. Just check out the video above. Now as for Sawa’s music. I asked her what her music is like and she told me while there are elements of pop. It’s more of Pop Rock sound with a hint of grunge. So this was the album I got from her.

It’s an EP so I figured it would be a good sample of her music and I gotta say….It was A LOT BETTER than I thought it was going to be. It had catchy hooks, a nice rocking sound, good lyrics, and yeah it did in fact have a hint of grunge. I was pleasantly surprised and for those of you wondering. She does sing in English. You can check out this album on Spotify. She also has another EP for sale on iTunes under the name Sawa’s Phool and be sure to check out her facebook page at

And until next time Nation. STAY LOUD!
