Leaves as Butterflies

Hey Nation,

I have a musical project I want to show you. It’s from one of my childhood friend’s and guitar teacher Eddie Depool. It’s called “Leaves as Butterflies”. Think of it as Adele but with more of an edge. You can check out their new song HERE and this  is their facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/leavesasbutterflies/ give them listen and tell me and them what you think.

Fairwell BronyCon

Nation I was given some Heart Breaking news about BronyCon. They will be closing its doors next years. The organizers had this to say.

For the past seven years, BronyCon has been a constant within the “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” fandom. Tens of thousands of people have walked through our doors to be a part of our community, with many more working behind the scenes to make it all happen.

It’s been a wild ride, but all rides end eventually—and BronyCon 2019 will be our 11th and final event.

As a group, we did not come to this decision lightly. Thousands of hours, hundreds of people’s efforts, and gallons of unicorn magic are put into every BronyCon. It’s a hard job, and one we do with love for the community. Love for the community that helped us make a major shift in cities in 2013 when we moved from our original New York home to Baltimore; the community that came out over ten thousand strong to set the record for the largest My Little Pony convention the world has seen; and the community that has raised over $155,000 for incredible charities like CureSearch.

However, as the fandom ages and changes, so too does the convention scene. Activity in the community has slowly been declining for the last several years, and while many of us wish things could stay the same forever, the one constant in life is change. At BronyCon, we could try to change, but we feel that to do so would cause us to become something that is not BronyCon. It would not be the event we know and love, and that we look forward to attending all year.

Rather than let our fire dwindle into embers that eventually fade away, we wish everyone to remember BronyCon at its best. Next year, we’re turning BronyCon into the best celebration of the fandom we possibly can, and we’re making the event bigger than ever before.

BronyCon 2019 will take place Thursday, August 1st, through Sunday, August 4th, 2019, at the Baltimore Convention Center. We’re becoming a 4-day celebration for the first time, and we’re inviting anyone and everyone who wants to party with us to come to Baltimore and join us in one last incredible celebration of community, love, friendship, and magic.

We invite each and every one of you to join our celebration and become a part of the story we’ve written together. It’s a story of countless strangers who each found something special in a little thing called My Little Pony. A story of how those strangers came together in scattered locations, online and in real life, and who formed bonds of joy, friendship, and love. A story of those bonds touching life after life, spreading positive change and inspiring all of us to chase our happiness, whatever it may be. The story of BronyCon has been written with many authors. It is a beautiful tapestry we have all had a part in weaving together, and now the time has come to inscribe the final pages in our massive, shared tale.

To potential attendees, old and new—join us. To anyone who values and strives to live by the positive lessons MLP:FiM seeks to impart, you are welcome and wanted here. If you are a newcomer, we can tell you with certainty that BronyCon is a place to make lifelong friendships. We know, because it has happened to us time and time again.

If you’ve never attended, now is the time.

If you’ve attended once before, we would be delighted to have you come celebrate with us once again.

If you’ve joined us for years, through thick and thin, and already know you will be coming to our last party: welcome back. We can’t wait to see you.

And finally, to all of you, everyone who had a part in this tale: we never could have done it without you.

We are sure many of you have questions, and we’ll do our best to share more details in the coming months. For now, we have a request for all of you: start thinking about what you want to do to make your BronyCon 2019 special. Think about what will make that final weekend the best one ever—and then do it.

If you have crazy awesome ideas that you think the con should officially be hosting, tell us! We want to know. If we can do it, we will. And who knows? You may find yourself being invited to join our staff and see your dream become reality for everyone.

We hope you can join us next August. Together, we’re going to build something beautiful.

Your chairs,

Sheva Goldberg and Eliana Summers

I personally believe there are other factors at play for the lack of attendance. Like the price. Not for the Con itself but the city of Baltimore is expensive. I meant the hotel I stayed at charged $30 a night for parking. Plus it was held in a convention center rather than an air port hotel. With an Air Port Hotel you can take a shuttle (or an Uber) from the Air Port just up the road to the hotel and not spend a dime on parking. Plus there’s cheaper options for food thats in walking distance. Plus they are are way more convenient. If you’re getting a bunch of items signed, you don’t have to walk that far to take them back to your room. With BronyCon you will have to go much further and crossing city traffic is much worse.

Sure the fandom is not as big as it used to be but that’s why we gotta get over that G5 hurtle. I am ready to see what G5 brings and I have faith in Hasbro. After seeing the impact of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic I would think they would see the value in quality while trying to push a toy. If they want to keep making money they will continue to produce good content. So lets see what G5 has to offer.

BILL NEWTON FILLS OUT THE TRAVEL PARTY FOR BRONYCON 2018

Greetings Nation,

We’ve only got a few weeks left until BronyCon 2018! And even though this year’s event is on the horizon, we still have room for one more passenger. BronyCon is proud to announce Bill Newton as our next and final Guest of Honor for this month’s event!

This is AWESOME! Bill Newton is very fan friendly. He has a twitch stream that he does at least three times a week and will actually chat with his fans. He’s active on twitter and even raised money to bring a bully victim to a Pony Convention.

Newton is best known to “My Little Pony” fans as the voice of Applejack’s father, Bright Mac. The Australian-born voice actor has voiced numerous other characters in “Friendship is Magic.” They include Pharynx, the stubborn brother of the changeling leader Thorax, and the Pony of Shadows.

Newton has worked a variety of roles outside of “My Little Pony” as well. His voice credits include the Isami Toma and Kotaru Suwa in “World Trigger” and Tasuke Kurokono in “Gintama.” Newton has also worked on Pixar’s “Finding Dory.”

Those interested in learning more about Newton as he makes his first convention appearance on the east coast can visit http://bronycon.org/guests/.

BronyCon 2018 Community Guests

Greetings Nation.

BronyCon 2018 is just 4 weeks away and as much as we love the cast and crew from the show it’s important to remember those of us in the Brony community who help keep the fandom going and today, we’re happy to announce that some of the biggest and most recognizable faces from the “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” fandom will be joining us this July 27-29.

  • Nowacking; fandom voice actor and writer; known for playing Vinyl Scratch/DJ Pon3 in various animations and songs.

  • TheLostNarrator; Youtuber known for her fanfic reading productions, blooper reels, and comic dubs

  • Magpiepony; creator of the popular YouTube series “Princess Trixie Sparkle,” “Pinkie Tales;” also various animation projects, comics, and songs

  • SaberSpark; a YouTube analyst with nearly 500 thousand subscribers; regular guest on the series “Bronies React” and “Hooves Line Is It Anyway?” at BronyCon.

  • ACRacebest; creator of “Bronies React;” producer of comedy sketches, vlogs, and other such content; guest on “Hooves Line Is It Anyway?” at BronyCon.

  • Dustykatt; popular Brony personality who has entertained millions through podcasts, Bronies React, and a new online series, “Thatch and Dial;” MC for BronyCon’s Charity Auction on Sunday, July 29.

  • Obabscribbler; YouTuber and author with over 350 stories to her name who specializing in audio productions; collaborator with many YouTube personalities, lending her voice and skills to many fan projects.

  • Silver Quill; Comic creator and analyst for the MLP Community; on many, many panels and events in BronyCon.

  • Trish Forstner; artist for BronyCon and IDW; catch her in the Marketplace over the weekend.

I always look forward to DustyKatt’s, SilverQuill, and  SaberSpark. Dusty and I are both rockers. We’re big fans of rock and roll scene, he actually knows my sound guy Furox and he’s even a fan of my friend’s band Green Jellÿ.

SaberSpark makes Great content on youtube. Always discussing what ruined certain shows, networks, or trends with well thought out arguments. Held together with good visuals. He even showed up at the Grand Brony Gala 2 in Tampa FL where he crashed Michelle Creber’s and Gabe Brown’s panel.

And of course we have SilverQuill. What I like about SilverQuill is that he DOES NOT do the Angry Reviewer schtick. I am getting so fed up with that. Screaming and shouting does make you sound smart, authentic, or smart. In fact it makes you sound even more biased but Silver knows he doesn’t have to do that. He shows his research and even has REAL jokes to tie it altogether.

More information on each of the guests can be found at http://bronycon.org/guests/. Specific event information, such as location and times, will be posted to the website within the next few weeks.

TONY AWARD WINNER LENA HALL BRIGHTENS THE STAGE IN BALTIMORE

OMG NATION!?

BronyCon has had many landmark moments during the last six years, with incredible guests and attendees who come from every corner of the globe. Today, we’re happy to announce a brand new face is joining us for 2018 as we welcome the incredibly talented Lena Hall to Baltimore this July 27-29!

I am SO EXCITED for this. I absolutely loved her episode The Mane Attraction. I even did an episode of my Brony Show HOOF ROCK about the two songs featured in it. You can check it out below.

Hall is most well known for her work in theatre both off and on Broadway. Her experience includes a Tony-winning Broadway run in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and a tour through North America with Josh Groban on his “Stages” tour. She portrayed the dual starring roles of both Hedwig and Yitzhak in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” in Los Angeles and San Francisco but of you’re a rocker like myself I would HIGHLY recommend checking out her rock band THE DEAFENING

In her 2014 Tony Award acceptance speech for “Best Featured Actress in a Musical,” Hall shot herself into the eyes of many “MLP” fans. After thanking her family, friends, the Broadway community and countless others for helping her in her journey she ended with the phrase “friendship is magic.”

Hall learned all about the magic of friendship as the voice of Coloratura in the “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” episode “The Mane Attraction” in 2015. In the episode, Coloratura reunites with her fillyhood friend Applejack for a charity concert and learns to be true to herself and not what others want her to be. Hall’s performance in the episode included the three songs, “Equestria, The Land I Love,” “The Spectacle,” and “The Magic Inside” – the latter of which was released as a teaser storyboard animatic at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con.

Those interested in learning more about Hall and BronyCon’s other guests of honor can visit http://bronycon.org/guests/ for more information. Please note, Hall will only be attending BronyCon on Saturday and Sunday of the event.

BronyPalooza

Greetings Nation,

The windows are rolled down and the tunes are loud as BronyCon gets closer to this year’s event, happening July 27-29. Today, we’re happy to announce the lineup and schedule for

While traditional bands are great. Let us not forget that Con Bands can make just as good music too and their lineup consists of 15 acts who will take the stage over the course of two nights, with new talented performers ready to rock. They are Crusader!, PrinceWhateverer, DJ Hollowpoint, Elevative, R3CTIFIER, Additive Subtractive, FLIGHTRUSH, and Poni1Kenobi.

Another big face coming in will be Odyssey, formerly known as Eurobeat Brony, whose popular work within the “My Little Pony” fandom, including songs such as “Discord” and “Pony Pokey,” have garnered millions of views on YouTube.

We also have some returning faces ready to remind BronyCon attendees why the biggest MLP music event needs so much room. These include The Wonderbolts, Cyril the Wolf, Chang31ing, StrachAttack, and The Shakeups.

We’re also excited to have Guests of Honor Michelle Creber & Gabriel Brown (Black Gryph0n) back on stage this year! The duo will be performing a range of songs, from classic covers to singles for Creber’s new Album, “On Display.”

Concerts have always been my bread and butter. Plus I want to start pushing con bands to he general public. To see if they will accept any music regardless of their subject matter. To hear a sample of all these artists go to this link HERE and get a preview on SoundCloud.

Those interested in more information, including biographies and concert schedules can go to https://bronycon.org/bronypalooza. A selection of BronyCon exclusive tracks have been provided by individual talents as a taste of what can be expected this July in Baltimore.

Fan Favorite Writer MA Larson Joins BronyCon

Greetings Nation!

As someone who has traveled long distances in vehicle, whether its vacation or going on tour. I can honestly tell you a good story can be vital to help make a road trip shorter than it seems. It can come from an exciting book, or retelling memories with your friends. Our next passenger on the road to BronyCon 2018 is best known to fans for the great stories they tell. We are pleased to announce M.A. Larson as our next Guest of Honor!

That’s right people. The Man, The Myth, The Legend, the World’s Greatest Troll Returns to BronyCon. It’s M.A. Larson!!! I am so excited for this. He has written some of my favorite episodes (including a particular episode that he even disapproves off) and I hope to hear some of stories of his own working in this industry.

Larson has been a writer for “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” since the show’s beginning in 2010. His most notable episodes include the Hugo Award-nominated two-part episode “The Cutie Map,” “Magical Mystery Cure,” and the series’ 100th episode “Slice of Life.” Which is another one of my personal favorites. Larson actually doesn’t like meta humor but for this he was willing to make an exception.

Larson has also written episodes for a numerous other animated shows. Those include “My Partner is a Gym Monkey,” “Littlest Pet Shop,” and “Sym-Bionic Titan.” He is also the head writer for the upcoming “DC Super Hero Girls,” which is set to premiere in 2019 on Cartoon Network.

In addition to his animation writing, Larson is the author of the book series “Pennyroyal Academy.”

AMY KEATING ROGERS JOINS BRONYCON

What’s Up Nation!?

We’re nearing our final destination on the road to BronyCon 2018 this July 27-29. But we still have more friends and passengers to pick up along the way. Today we’re happy to announce Amy Keating Rogers is joining the travel party as our next Guest of Honor!

BronyCon_2018-Amy_Keating_Rogers-Announcement-Press_Release.jpg

I am so excited for this. She has written so many fantastic episode like Testing Testing 1, 2, 3, Filli Vanilli, AppleBuck Season, and one of my personal favorites The Mane Attraction. What an episode to go out on. It even gave us the Equestrian National Anthem (and I won’t be a bit surprised if he wrote it). I have been wanting to meet her for years and my opportunity has arrived.

Rogers was also the head writer for the original version of “The Powerpuff Girls,” and also wrote books and comic books based on the series. During her time on the show, her group received four Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Animated Program. Rogers has also written episodes for cartoon series such as “The Fairly OddParents,” “Johnny Bravo,” and “Samurai Jack.” So if you grew up during the good year’s of Cartoon Network you can thank her for such great memories.

Currently, Rogers is a staff writer for “T.O.T.S.,” a Disney Junior show scheduled to debut next year.

Those interested in learning more about Rogers extensive backlog can visit http://bronycon.org/guests for more information.
